oh my, Lauren. Thank you for making my day SO much better, right at 7:30 in the morning. You’re such a special individual and I am so lucky to have a friend like you in my life! The love is mutual!
PS…Chagos?
Today and yesterday I began looking for internships and houses for next year…aggressively. I’ve been looking kind of nonchalantly in the past, but now, it’s real. It’s just crazy how much changes in a year. At this time last year, I couldn’t wait for summer to happen so that I could go home and be with my high school friends. Fast forward a year to right now, and I couldn’t be happier with where I am. Yeah, occasionally I’ll miss my family/ friends, but I have been here for eight weeks without seeing any of them, and it’s so rewarding. To know that I made it past the stage of making a strong base of friends, that I am extremely grateful for, rather than my friends from high school who continued the same friendships into college, makes me extremely proud of myself. My hopes for this summer are to move into my new house with my roommates, and find a fulfilling internship in Nashville. I’ll have a car so if I get too homesick, I will be able to drive up intermittently throughout the summer on some weekends. All I’m saying is, life is moving, things are changing, but for probably the first time in my life, I’m not hanging on to the past.
I’m gonna leave y’all with a cliché quote from one of the best movies ever shot in my home city of Chicago, because it just seems to fit right now:
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once and a while, you might miss it” -Ferris Bueller
